DANIEL DIAZ was born in 1973 in San Carlos, a small village in Cuba.
FROM 1993 to 1997 he studied sculpture at The Academy of Art in Trinidad, Cuba. In 1998 he won the first prize in the Small Format Art competition in Sancti Spiritus and had numerous exhibitions of paintings and sculptures in Trinidad and Havana.
FROM 1997 to 2001 he lived and worked as a professional artist in Trinidad, Cuba where, along with other projects, he was commissioned to produce five sculptures for The School of Tourism in Trinidad.
IN 2001 he was invited by the Finland-Cuba Association to take part in an international cultural exchange and spent six months in Finland participating in various different workshops and the Faces Festival. During this time he also had several successful solo exhibitions in Helsinki and Porvoo and attracted lots of media attention.
FROM 2002 Daniel has been living in the UK and has had exhibitions in Guildford and Brighton as well as working on commission pieces.
